B613

-1 Day
We leave Dhaka early in the morning, driving out of the city to join up with one of the main rivers. On the boat we’ll spend the day spotting river dolphins and watching fishermen go about their work, interspersed with a long lunch, generally relaxing and enjoying the view of rural Bangladesh. When the wind is favourable, you can help the crew hoist the red-ochre sails. Return to the dock is at sunset, as the waters reflect the golden sky, and we reach Dhaka by evening.

-2 Days 1 Night
On the first day, after driving out of the city early in the morning to where the boat is docked, we will sail down to a confluence of the river tributaries, spending a tranquil evening there docked next to one of the chars (nomadic islands). The second day will be dedicated to exploring more of the river, and we can stop to walk through one of the nearby villages, or take a quick swim in a secluded area. We return to the dock as the sun disappears beyond the river.

*This trip can be extended to up to 5 days

-Dinner Cruise
The drive out of the city will begin late in the afternoon, to board the boat for a brief sunset cruise. The buffet dinner will be candlelit under the night sky – the stars and moonlight reflected on the water is always a beautiful sight.

-Sundarbans Cruise
To reach the untouched nature of the largest mangrove forest in the world, we fly down from Dhaka to Jessore and then drive to Mongla to board the B613 for 4 days. On the first night we just enter the forest, which is the last sanctuary of the Royal Bengal Tiger, and dock just next to a forest station. The boat will head down the next day to the southern point of the Sundarbans to the reservation area of Kotka, the ideal spot for leisurely nature walks to observe the unusual mangrove ecosystem and cutting across to Kotka beach to take a dip in the sea. The forest, which was declared a World Heritage Site in 1997, has three wildlife sanctuaries and houses remarkable plants, animals, fishes and birds. In the morning we will explore the smaller rivers, ideal for birdwatchers, and late morning we start heading back towards Mongla. The next night will be spent next to the jungle and on the last morning, if possible, we cut across a narrow canal and have a close look at the jungle.
